This SDGRS Reception is a one-of-a-kind networking opportunity for those using drones for collecting geophysical and remote sensing data (a.k.a. “the practitioners”) with those utilizing the information obtained from drone geophysics and remote sensing data to make decisions (a.k.a. ”the customers”) to share their knowledge and experiences while simultaneously exploring the realm of possibilities inspired by Drone Geophysics and Remote Sensing.

The evening’s program will begin with a presentation by Mr. Geoff Pettifer titled An Update for the Guidelines for Drone Magnetics Version 2.   Geoff will share the salient details about the latest version of guidelines to the best practices collecting drone magnetic data.

Jan Francke, PhD. will present a keynote talk titled.

Navigating the Hype and Reality of Drone GPR

Dr. Franke is world renown as an advocate and teacher on the use of ground penetrating radar (GPR). Jan has worked on more than 108 countries and frequently lectures at Universities and Professional Conferences. He designs and deploys custom GPR systems via Groundradar and provides cloud based geophysical data processing via Geolitix.

Demonstration Day

March 28th, 2024

There is absolutely no better way to understand the power of drones for geophysical and remote sensing mapping missions than to view the technology up close. From 8 AM to 1 PM, there will be “formal” 30 minutes long demonstrations of the following sensors: 1) MagNimbus magnetometer, 2) Zond Aero 500 Ground Penetrating Radar, 3) Echo Sounder bathymeter, and the 4) EM61Lite metal detector. In addition, informal demonstrations of these and other sensors are anticipated in the afternoon.

Technical Presentations about specific sensors and drones applicable for geophysical and remote sensing mapping deployments will be given from 1 PM to 5 PM.
